Assassins / Murder : the gruesome effigy of a murdered Abbot with a dagger plunged into his heart, his feet resting on his disembowelled assassin; are believed to be portrayed on one of the tombstones on display
The Knights Templar: graves are believed to exist in Dundrennan. The brethren of white robed monks who inhabited the Abbey were Cistercian Monks, their mother house being the founders of the Knights Templar.
